Aperture 2.0

April 14, 2008  |  mac, software, photo  |  not published
I finally got around and ordered the 2.0 Aperture upgrade. I'm currently installing it on my home iMac, and I used the occasion to read some blog postings on Aperture 2.0 that I've saved. The first one is on plugins (Extensible Aperture, Micah Walter). Connected Flow's FlickrExport I already have and use. See more plugins at AperturePluggedIn.com. Aperture 2.0 is also extremely AppleScriptable, and AperturePluggedIn.com will be updated with Aperture AppleScipt tools, too. AUPN, or the Aperture Users Professional Network, has a lot of information on Aperture 2.0. Recommended. Ellen Anon has written two articles on the new adjustment tools in Aperture 2.0 (part one and part two). Ian Wood presents some hidden gems in Aperture (2.0). The Aperture Caption Palette (download and info) is nice if you want to add notes (captions) to your photos. It is AppleScript based, and it should be accessed from the Script menu in Aperture. The 2.1 upgrade was available before I installed 2.0, so I upgraded as soon as the 2.0 installation had finished. One of the important 2.1 updates is the new Edit API. Apple has demonstrated this API through the Dodge and Burn plugin. In 2.1 Apple has also expanded the list of available Aperture AppleScript commands.
